MITGM was started by Billy Summers in February 2011. His intention was to create a Facebook Group that would be available for musicians and all who love Gospel music as well as help each other grow in the music ministry.

"I would say in the first year, membership was just over 1,000 and since then it has grown exponentially thanks to a few members like Ralph T. Lofton, Thomas E. Jr. Freeman who played a crucial role in the expansion, and a few others by inviting MANY members that launch MITGM off the ground MITGM went from about 1,000 to well over 8,000 in just 3 months in the 3rd year and since then we kept growing and growing and growing.

Members started asking to come together under one roof so we managed to have our first "reunion" in South Carolina in June 2016. All members in the state of South Carolina were there for an event I'll never forget. After that plans were made to have future events in other cities and hopefully it can happen again after COVID-19 has cleared.

 

That same year MITGM came out with our own T-shirts and all who were at the first reunion had the T-shirts which was nice to see that day.

MITGM continues to grow every day and I only hope members have and will get something positive from the family. I call it "family" because that's the atmosphere I hope to create so all will feel welcome. MITGM isn't just for musicians but also for those who love music as well, we hope they share their point of view from their perspective as well.
